A fire is blazing at NBC and that said “fire” is Law & Order franchise creator, Dick Wolf’s latest creation, Chicago Fire. It’s so hot to NBC, that they have plans to give it a spinoff, fusing their intentions with the season finale of Fire, which will air May 15th at 10PM/9c.
Chicago Fire is one of NBC’s successes this season, under the new Revolution, returning Grimm, and of course, The Voice. But according to Deadline, the proposed spinoff will revolve around the Chicago Police Department, with CF characters possibly crossing over into that series. Right now nothing is set in stone, but one executive producer, Derek Haas, tweeted earlier today after the news broke “Dahh-Donnk” which we all know is the signature Law & Order card sound; leaving the suggestion that Chicago Fire may spin, Law & Order: Chicago (a city which could use such a series).
Although fans are jumping for joy over the spinoff plans, some people are scratching their heads on why NBC is jumping to give CF a spinoff after one season. I’d rather not question it myself. What say you? Should the fire house mingle with the police force next season? If this is indeed the start of the next generation of Law & Order, where do SVU fans stand?
